CVLA empowers students to develop leadership skills while making a positive impact through community service. By providing meaningful volunteer opportunities, we inspire lifelong service, foster lasting friendships, and encourage members to become changemakers in their local and global communities.
Founded by students, for students, CVLA is the heartbeat of campus service. We organize, lead, and inspire a community of volunteers dedicated to making a real difference.
Meet the TeamI created CVLA with a simple belief that every student should have the opportunity to make a difference.
When I first came to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, I wanted to find ways to give back to my community and get involved in meaningful service. However, I found that it wasn't always easy to find consistent opportunities to volunteer or connect with others who shared the same passion for helping others. That experience inspired me to create CVLA.
I wanted to build a community that made it easier for students to get involved, give back, and grow alongside one another. More importantly, I wanted CVLA to be a place where students could develop their leadership skills through service and discover the impact they can have on the people and communities around them.
I believe leadership is defined by your willingness to step forward, serve others, and create positive change. At CVLA, we strive to embody these values by creating opportunities for students to volunteer, build meaningful connections, and become leaders who make a difference.
What started as my own search for opportunities to give back has grown into a community built around making those opportunities available to others.
I am incredibly grateful for Tracy Trader-Johnston and everyone who has helped make CVLA possible, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.
Guiding hands, growing leaders.
